Dump Trailer vs Roll Off Dumpster: Which One Should You Rent in South Bend?
A dump trailer and a roll off dumpster do the same job, which is hold a large amount of debris until someone hauls it away. The difference is how they get to your property and what they do to it once they are there.
A roll off dumpster is a steel box. A truck backs up, tilts its bed, and the box slides down rails onto the ground. On a gravel lot that is fine. On a concrete driveway in Granger it leaves two long scrapes and, if the box is set down hard, cracked slab. Many roll off companies ask you to lay plywood first for that reason.
A dump trailer is a trailer. It rides on tires, gets backed into place like any trailer, and is unhitched. Nothing is dragged. When it is full, the truck hitches up and drives off. At the disposal site the bed tilts hydraulically and the load slides out.
The trailer is also lower. Loading over the side of a roll off means lifting debris to chest height or higher. A dump trailer's side rail is lower, which matters when you are on hour three of throwing drywall.
Where a roll off wins is sheer capacity at the top end. The largest roll offs are bigger than the largest dump trailers. For a commercial demo generating truckloads a day, roll offs make sense. For a South Bend house, garage, roof or yard, a dump trailer covers it with less hassle.
Dump Hub runs dump trailers for that reason. If your job is big enough that you are not sure a trailer will cover it, call (574) 220-4923 and describe it. Sometimes the answer is two trailers or a mid-job swap, and that still beats gouged concrete.
