What Can and Can't Go in a Rental Dumpster in Indiana

A rental dumpster from Dump Hub takes most of what comes out of a South Bend home or job site: furniture, drywall, lumber, carpet, flooring, cabinets, brush, general household junk, packaging and construction scraps. A few categories are excluded because the disposal sites will not take them or they create a hazard in the trailer.

Hazardous materials are the first exclusion. Paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, motor oil, gasoline and propane tanks cannot go in. St. Joseph County runs household hazardous waste collection for exactly these items, and that is where they should go.

Refrigerant appliances are the second. Refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers and window AC units contain refrigerant that must be recovered before disposal. Dump Hub can take them, but only if you tell us in advance so they are handled separately rather than thrown in with the load.

Tires and batteries are the third. Landfills handle both through separate streams and charge for them. A couple of tires can often be arranged; a pile of them is a different conversation.

Heavy fill is not excluded, but it is limited. Dirt, concrete, brick, block and asphalt are so dense that a trailer filled with them would be far over weight. If you have heavy fill, say so, and we will size a smaller trailer or plan a partial load.
